James “Jimmy” L. Lemley, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on October 22, 2015 at Heritage Village of Clyde. He was born on April 12, 1933 in Marvel, AL the son of Jewel Redick and Ola (Barnes) Lemley. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and received the Army Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal.
Jimmy married Shirley Long on October 3, 1959 in Cleveland, OH and she survives. He worked as a machine operator at Whirlpool Corp. for 32 years until he retired in 2002. He enjoyed puzzles, hunting, fishing and card playing which he loved to win. He loved to barbeque and was known for his special barbecue sauce.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Shirley Lemley, Fremont; children, Veronica (Mike) Jenkins, Pamela (James) Kindle both of Fremont, Karen Lemley, Columbus, OH and James L. Lemley, Jr., Wooster, OH; special great-great niece, Kelisha Sims; grandchildren, Balinda and Tyrone Lemley, DeAngelo Lee, Courtney Cote’ Lemley, Jamal and Nick Kindle; step-grandchildren, Joseph Jenkins and Ashley (Tom) Mathews; twelve great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles “Peter” (Jewel) Long and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rachel Pempton and Juanita Barry.
Visitation: Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Victory Church, 2051 Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont, OH.
Services: Wednesday, October 28, 2015: 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Darrell Gant officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont with military honor’s provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
