James H. Gloer, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice of Sylvania, OH. He was born on December 2, 1937 in Fremont to Lawrence F. and Marie M. (Baumann) Gloer. He attended St. Joseph High School. James served in the Army National Guard from January 26, 1961 to January 25, 1966. He married Rita A. Uecker on February 27, 1965 in Fremont. James worked at Kelsey-Hayes Foundry as a maintenance supervisor and retired after thirty-two years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former member of the Fremont Moose and Eagles. He loved woodworking and was a man of all trades. James had an incredible work ethic and if there wasn’t a job to be done, he would invent a job.
James is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Rita A. Gloer, Fremont, OH; children, Teresa M. (John Jr.) Pike, Toledo, OH, Julia L. (Todd) Mitchell, Holland, OH and Scott M. Gloer, Lower Burrell, PA; grandchildren, Johnny, Hannah, Luke, Hailey, Connor, Colton and Karlee, great grandchildren, James and Emma.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Eldon, Richard, Dale and Edwin Gloer and sisters, Alma Dumminger and Dolores Klohn.
Visitation: Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 am until Noon at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Noon at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fremont.
Military Honors are provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials can be made in James’ honor to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio or Parkinson Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
