Jalen Aaron Oman was born Christmas Eve 1996 and his mom said he was the best Christmas present she could have received. Even though Jalen was born on Christmas Eve his mom always assured Jalen had his birthday celebration. She made sure that day was his day first, and then the family celebrated Christmas with nana and papa later that evening.
Jalen didn’t plan, or want, to leave this world yet. His heart and home were always in Fremont Ohio except for the last three years. He went to school here, graduated from Ross in 2015 and went to the University of Akron for about a year. Jalen loved playing all sports for as long as we can remember. He started by playing football at the rec and then middle school. His papa taught him how to golf, and Jalen got pretty good at that and played on the Little Giants golf team. Then he made the track team his junior and senior years of high school and barely missed breaking the long-standing vault record by less than two inches. He was so close! Jalen also loved hunting and fishing, shooting hoops, and just about anything he could do outdoors.
In addition to his mother, Rachel Oman, Jalen is survived by his sister Ariah Jones, who he loved with all his heart and soul. He is also survived by his nana and papa Linda and Jeff Oman, three special cousins McKenna Pettiford and Briana Oman who were like sisters to him, and “little brother” Nate Craig, and his great-grandma Joanne Oman. Jalen also has some awesome aunts and uncles that stood by him every second of every day: Christina (Scott) Craig, Rikki (Tony Molnar} Oman, and Matthew (Charee) Oman. Finally, Jalen is also survived by his dad Travis Bulger, sister Rashonda Brown and other brothers and sisters, Grandma Vickie Washington, Papa Dee Robert McKinstry and Momo Patricia McKinstry, the rest of his Bulger family and too many other family members to mention.
Jalen was met at the gate by grandad Oman, grandma Hawkins, Uncle Mike Oman, Aunt Karen Charles, and a huge group of others who loved him.
There will be a celebration of Jalen’s life at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral home, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH, on Sunday, September 26th from 1pm to 3pm with services to take place at 3pm. Attendees are asked to wear bright colors and be ready to share memories of Jalen with others. Please consider wearing a mask to protect others during visitation.
