Irene F. Blue, 81, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Bethesda Care Center. She was born on November 20, 1934 in Bethesda, KY, the daughter of Dewey and Mary Ann (Daffron) Slaven. Irene grew up in Monticello, KY.
Irene married Maurice S. “Maury” Blue on August 18, 1978 in Sandusky, OH and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005. She worked in the Dietary Department at Memorial Hospital and retired after many years of service. Irene enjoyed gardening, her pets, Elvis, country music and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor.
Irene is survived by her children, Robert “Steve” (Karen) Langley, Clyde, OH, Thomas Langley, James (Teresa) Langley, Douglas Langley, Christine Rodriguez, all of Fremont, OH, step children, Dennis Blue, Port Clinton, OH and Linda Dray, Columbus, OH; brothers, Lewis and Ray Slaven both of Indiana; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice S. “Maury” Blue; siblings, Anna, Walter, George, Cecil, Robert “Paul”, Beula and Ernie.
Visitation: Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, March 12, 2016; 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Luis Rodriguez, Jr. officiating.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
