Howard C. Foos, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born November 4, 1930 in Gibsonburg, OH, the son of the late Herman and Helen (Widman) Foos. He was a 1948 graduate of Gibsonburg High School.
Howard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from June 12, 1951 to June 11, 1953. He married Helen R. Baumer Babcock on May 21, 1971 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont and she survives.
Howard was a millwright at Libby Owens until he retired in 1983 after thirty-three years. He then worked part-time a Sycamore Hills Golf Course and drove school bus for Fremont City Schools.
Howard was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Fremont Moose and Eagles. He was also the Fremont Elks Lodge honored veteran. He and wife Helen loved spending their winters at Four Winds in Crescent Beach, FL. They also enjoyed spending time with their family in Virginia and Oklahoma. His hobbies were taking walks, gardening and taking great care of his home and cars.
Howard is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Helen R. Foos, Fremont, OH; step children, Sandy (Steve) Bodnar, Fremont, OH, Ronald (Evie) Babcock of Collins, OK, Tami (Dennis) Barker of Dumfries, VA; siblings, Bernadine Kerwin, Gibsonburg, OH, Herbert (Carol) Foos, Fremont, OH, Mildred (Roger) Brickner, Tiffin, OH, Kenneth (Judy) Foos of Arizona, Robert (Shirley) Foos, Waterville, OH, Marleen (Jack) Henline, Gibsonburg, OH and Jeanette (Jeffery) Babione, Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eileen Willer, Norma Jean VossBerg, Marcele Burns and brother, Richard Foos.
Visitation: Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m., with a Fremont Elks Service and Catholic Vigil at 5:30 p.m., at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, June 23, 2014, 10:30 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1021 W. State St, Fremont, with Fr. Michael Zacharias officiating.
Burial: St. Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
