Gustavo E. Contreras Sr.

Gustavo “Gus” E. Contreras, Sr., 90, of Fremont, OH passed away on December 8, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 23, 1934 in Sandia, TX to Regino and Cresenciana (Vasquez) Contreras. Gus was a 1952 graduate of Townsend High School.

Gus served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He married Maria L. Arellano on February 28, 1968 in Brownsville, TX and she survives. Gus was a life long farmer owning and operating Contreras Brothers Farm. He loved farming and was very proud to have his own family farm. Gus enjoyed watching CNN and listening to Jehovah Witness.

Gus is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Maria Contreras, Fremont; children, Laura Dominguez, Belen Contreras both of Fremont, Elisa Contreras, Bartow, Fl, Dina (Cesar) Romero, North Port, FL, Gus (Kelli) Contreras, Jr, Sandusky and Melinda (Abraham) Trejo, Fremont; sisters, Irma Contreras, Fremont and Alice Contreras, Washington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alma Contreras; siblings, Jacinto, Robert, Albert, Roman Contreras, Minerva Garcia and Consuelo Solis.

A private service was held for the family.
