Gilbert E. Perry, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Toledo Hospital. He was born May 22, 1928 in Fremont, the son of Alfred and Gertrude (Thomas) Perry.
Gilbert served in the U.S. Army from January, 1945 to November, 1946 during WWII and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Independence Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Gilbert married Norma J. Lisk on December 31, 1947 in New Albany, IN and she survives. He was an independent Trucker for forty years for various companies. Gilbert eventually owned G.E. Perry Rigging and Storage and dispatched out of Detroit, MI until he retired in 1991. Gilbert was a Life member of VFW Post #2947 in Fremont. He enjoyed playing cards and going out for coffee with his friends every morning.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Norma J. Perry, Fremont, OH; children, Sandra Halbisen, Mike (Diana) Perry and Tom Perry, all of Fremont, OH; siblings, Lois Estep, Fremont, OH, Nannette Welch, San Diego, CA, Nancy Tolotti, New Philadelphia, OH; grandchildren, Michael Perry, Luke Perry, Jamey (Jen) Halbisen, Anthony Halbisen, Gina (Jay) Klos; great grandchildren, Michael Scott Perry, Whitney, Adriane, Austin and Arizona Halbisen, Kaylyn and Sophia Klos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Perry; siblings, Alfred “Ogle”, Burdell, William and Donald Perry, Beatrice Rohm and Leanella Avila.
