George R. Hintze, Sr.

George “Geno” R. Hintze, Sr., 77, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 18, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on June 22, 1939 in Kreuzburg Oberschlesien, Germany to Heinz and Frieda (Nowak) Hintze. George came to the United States with his parents and siblings in 1956. He became a U.S. citizen in 1967.

George married Sharon L. Faist on June 1, 1981 in Fremont and she survives. He worked for the City of Fremont for thirty-two years retiring as the superintendent of the WPCC Maintenance Department. He loved to ride and work on his Harley motorcycle with his sons and good friend, Ron Shearn. George also enjoyed boating, fishing, his farm but most of all spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Sharon Hintze, Fremont; children, George (Sue) Hintze, Jr., Anthony (Erin) Hintze and Julia (Don) Thompson all of Fremont, Chad (Tina) Snyder, Fostoria, OH; brother, Hans (Linda) Hintze, Fremont; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judith Hansen Hintze; sisters, Hanna and Erika.

Visitation: Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Alfredo Diaz and Kyle Hintze officiating.

Memorials: Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Hayes Presidential Center or Heartland Hospice.
