George Allen Couch, 66, of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 12, 1948 in Bryan, OH, the son of George R. and Glenna (Schoonover) Couch. He was a 1966 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Ohio Dominican University.
George served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 until 1971 during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married Corine R. Overmyer on January 25, 1969. George was an accountant and retired in 2007. He then became a farmer after retirement.
George is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Corine R. Couch, Fremont, OH; children, Heather (Michael) Mitchell, Delaware, OH, Melanie (John) Burns, Perrysburg, OH, Cheryl (Jeremy) Crump, Lakeview, OH; sister, Marilyn (Curtis) Black, Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Cody, Sara and Zachary Mitchell, Emily and Rebecca Burns; Gabriel Crump; father-in-law, Byron Overmyer; nephew, Andrew (Elizabeth) Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Gurtha Overmyer.
Visitation and Service: Friday, October 17, 2014 from 3 – 6 pm with Services beginning at 6:00 pm, at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH. Certified Funeral Celebrant, Susann Robitski Zimmerman will officiate.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
