Gene Hay, 76, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH. He was born on November 10, 1940 in Ironton, OH to William and Neoma (Brown) Hay.
Gene served in the Ohio Army National Guard, Bravo Company 612th Engineer Battalion in Fremont, OH. He was a Supervisor at the Fremont Foundry for thirty-five years and retired in 1997. Gene had also worked at numerous other Factories in Fremont. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by his children, Angela (Dennis) Butscher, Michael (Barbara) Hay, Laura (Mike) Taylor, all of Fremont; David (Valerie) Stebel, of Norwalk; grandchildren, Summer (Jeremy) Hoffman, Melanie and Steven Butscher, Jacob and Kara Hay, Zachary, Garett and Payton Taylor, Jakob and Cody Stebel; step grandchildren, Peter and Dennis Butscher II; former wife Mildred Georgia Case; ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melanie Hay; granddaughter Cassandra Butscher; siblings, Clayton, Curtis, James, Paul and Alva Hay, Alma Stewart, Minnie Goldie, Levi Bell Hay and Bertha Hay.
Visitation: Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, February 18, 2017; 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Vickey officiating.
