Evelyn Taylor

Evelyn Taylor, 94, of Fremont, OH passed away at her home on Sunday, November 20, 2022 in the care of her daughter, Lindy Taylor.  She was born August 27, 1928 in Wadsworth, OH to George and Alice (Lanphear) McDonnell.  She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1946 and then attended Tiffin Business School.  Evelyn was employed as a secretary for twenty years at Howard Zink Corp; then five years at Borg – Warner Machines.  She retired in 2002 after thirty-one years with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.  Evelyn worked part-time for eleven years as a waitress at the Fremont Yacht Club and the Fremont Eagles.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for seventy years.  She was also a member of the VFW, Eagles, Moose, American Legion, and the Elks.  Evelyn was very active in the original Humane Society and befriended many stray dogs and cats during her lifetime.

Many thanks to Dr. Mary Wonderly and her staff who not only gave her the very best care but was a true and loving friend, Stein Hospice and her caregivers, “True Angels”, Teresa Ross, Kathy Huffman, Hailea Hatley and Wendy Ross.

Evelyn is survived by her loving daughter, Lindy Taylor; God Parents of her daughter and lifelong friends, Bob Cunningham, Jeanne Cunningham (now deceased); loyal and faithful friends, Pat O’Neill and family; niece and nephew, Debbie Kenny and John Dannley.

She is preceded in death by her parents; stepbrother, Judge H. Dennis Dannley of Medina, OH and loving companion for many years, Ralph Cover.

A Memorial Service will be held on

January 5, 2023

at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State St, Fremont, OH, with an hour of gathering prior to the service.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Evelyn’s honor to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
