Evelyn “Evie” R. Schlegel

Evelyn “Evie” R. Schlegel, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Valley View Health Campus.  She was born on December 24, 1935 in Fremont to Carl and Elnora (Caris) Meinke.  She attended Fremont Ross High School.  Evie married LaMar Schlegel on May 8, 1952 and he preceded her in death.  Evie was a homemaker and worked at Vogel’s Cake Decorating in 1952.  Evie enjoyed playing dice, dominos and other games on her tablet.

Evie is survived by her nieces, Nancy Mooney and Barbara Mooney both of Clyde, OH, nephews, Richard Mooney, Fremont and Carl “Skip” Mooney, Rudolph, OH; friend and care giver, Cathi (Tom) Laurer, Port Clinton, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaMar Schegel and companion, Carl Cronin.

The family would like to thank the staff of ProMedica Hospice, Valleyview Health Campus and a special caregiver, Tianne Humes.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022; 10:30 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

Memorials can be made is Evie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Cleveland Chapter or Valleyview Health Campus.
