Joan Howerton, 77, of Clyde, Ohio passed away at Bellevue Hospital on October 19, 2023 after unexpected health complications. Joan was born on November 3, 1945 to Esther (Lowe) and Ralph Lozier in Wooster, OH. She is a proud alumni of Clyde High School.
In 1961, a close personal friend of Joan introduced her to Milford, the love of her life. While Milford served in the military, the two began to write letters back and forth and at last, after two and a half years, the two were able to meet and were married on May 9, 1964. Throughout their 59 years of marriage, the two have brought three children to the world as well as adopting two.
She will be remembered foremost as a caregiver. Her love knew no bounds - whether it be her own children or those in need. In recent years, she has loved to spend time with the newest addition to the family: her poodle, Sadie. She had a passion for sewing and took pride in crafting baby blankets for her loved ones. She was never seen without painted nails and loved to spend quality time with her grandkids, and would always enjoy baking cookies for everyone to enjoy. She was avid about embroidering pillowcases to give as gifts, and especially loved to give them to her grandkids. She loved to go on adventures with her husband and has especially enjoyed cruises with the family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther McGrady, her stepfather, Robert McGrady, her two brothers, Dave Arnold and Tom Lozier, her daughter, Kimberly Denninger Hurst, and her son, Zachary Guenther. She is survived by her husband, Milford Howerton, her sisters Sue (L.E.) Turner and Jane (Dave) Foraker, her brother, Steve (Nancy) Arnold, her children, Jeff (Lisa) Howerton, Julia Howerton, Shawn (Amy) Howerton, her daughter-in-law, Susie Claus, her grandchildren, Sarah, Matt (Samantha), Alexis, Megan, Haley, Jenna, Isabelle, Christian, Phoebe, Logan, Brooke, Olivia, Cole and her great-grandchildren, Noah, Elijah, Lydia, Isaac, Isla, and Lyam.
