Ernesto D. Garcia

Ernesto D. Garcia, 82, Green Springs, OH passed away surrounded by his family on September 6, 2024 at Bellevue Care Center. Ernesto was born on August 21, 1942 to Ramon and Leonor DeLeon Garcia in Harlingen, TX. He attended Green Springs High School. Ernesto married Teresita Alafita on July 13, 1961 in Monroe, MI and she preceded him in death on September 18, 2022. 

Ernesto worked for several factories for over thirty years. He worked in propane delivery and as a chemical sprayer. He was a softball, tennis, football, basketball and baseball coach for many schools including Clyde and Lakota. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Yankees fan. Most of all he enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in academics and sports. 

Ernesto is survived by his children, Mary (Keith) Hackenburg, Castalia, OH, Roy (Brenda) Garcia, Clyde, OH, Lou (Joy) Garcia, Green Springs, OH; grandchildren, Kyle (Rachel) Hackenburg, Jerry City, OH, Ryan (Amanda) Hackenburg, Clyde, OH, Jessica (Andrew) Sereda, Bellevue, OH, Jeremy Garcia, Jessica Level, Jacob Level, Justin Level, all of Clyde, OH, Isaac Garcia, Green Springs, OH, Tyler (Janelle) Tea, Clyde, OH, Alexis (Marcus) Gonya, Fremont, OH; great-grandchildren, Malachi, Joshua, Josiah, Bria, Keira, Jaiden, Audrina, Leo, Lincoln, Adelaide, Alina, Alicia, Myles, Annistyn, Allie, Kip; brother, Ignacio “Iggy” (Mela) Garcia, Fremont, OH.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Teresita Garcia; siblings, Joel Garcia, Eleazar Garcia, Edelmiro Garcia, Armando Aguirre, Adelina Rodriguez, Felismer Aguirre and Zulema Sanchez; granddaughter, Alicia Garcia. 

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 12 – 1 p.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St. Green Springs, OH 44836.

Funeral Ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Burial will take place at Bakertown Cemetery, Clyde, OH

Memorials can be made in his honor to Heartland Hospice.
