Dwight Everett McDonald, 77, of Kingfisher, OK and formerly of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on March 10, 1935 in Fremont, the son of Ira and Sadie (Everett) McDonald.
Dwight served in the U.S. Air Force from April, 1952 to January, 1956 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He married Marie McCully on August 22, 1992 in Marietta, OH and she survives.
Dwight worked as a Union Representative at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, OH for thirty-five years and retired in 1991. He was a cowboy at heart, and enjoyed riding his horses and even bulls at rodeos. He also enjoyed sports, playing softball on teams in the area as well as playing music with his friends.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Marie McDonald, Kingfisher, OK; children, Amy (Steve) Foos and Jason (Cindy) McDonald, Sarah (Robert) Rakay and Tim (Danielle) McDonald all of Fremont, OH; siblings, Polly Sachs of California and Pauline Brink, Fremont, OH and brother-in-law Gerald Blodgett, Fremont, OH; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl (Margaret) McDonald and sisters, Cathryn Blodgett, Faye Rose Mapes, and half sister Wade Legett, grandchild, Timothy Paul McDonald.
Visitation: Saturday from 9 to 11:00 a.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, February 9, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Rakay III officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH
Memorials: Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Homeward Bound Pug Rescue and Adoption of Oklahoma.
