Dr. Phyllis B. Bennett, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Gardens at Clyde, in Clyde, OH. She was born on May 6, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of William Hetrick and Dorothy (Barlow) Church. She attended San Diego State College and received a PHD in English from Bowling Green State University.
Phyllis married Jack Bennett in 1982 and he preceded her in death in December, 2012. She worked for Delbert Latta in Washington D.C. She was a College Professor at Bowling Green State University, Defiance College and the University of Kentucky. Phyllis worked for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where she retired.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Washington D.C. and St. Mary’s Episcopal School for Girls in Sewanee, TN. Phyllis was also a member of the Nature Conservatory and the A.C.L.U. Phyllis enjoyed the Elizabethan period, especially Shakespeare Plays. She was an activist for human rights and co-owner of a record store.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Christopher (Lorraine) Earnhart, Fremont, OH, Zachary (Bonnie) Campbell, Cave City, KY; brother, Dr. Robert (JoAnn) Hetrick, Wichita, KS; grandchildren, US Army Specialist-Jacob Earnhart and Andrew Earnhart both of Fremont, OH; life long friend, Alice Chance, Savanna, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jack Bennett.
Private Services were held for the family.
