With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doug Dalton, who left this world peacefully at the age of 71 on February 26, 2025. Doug was at home, surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends.
Born in Campbellsville, Kentucky, on September 13, 1953, Doug was the son of Omah D. Dalton Sr. and Mattie Francis Bohanan. After completing high school, he followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a pipe fitter and working with Pipefitters Local Union 789 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1978, Doug and his close friend Chuck Lee took a leap of faith and opened Reflections Boutique T-Shirts and Records—a business Doug passionately ran for 28 years until his retirement.
At the age of 42, Doug received a life-saving liver transplant at the Ohio State Medical Center. His resilience and determination allowed him to become one of the longest-living transplant recipients in the state, a testament to his strength and unwavering spirit.
Doug lived life to the fullest, embracing his passions and the people he loved. He was an avid rock and roll enthusiast who reveled in attending concerts, reminiscing about the legendary shows he experienced at East Town Theatre in Detroit. From Alice Cooper and Fleetwood Mac to Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead, Doug was lucky enough to see some of the biggest names in rock history. He also had a deep love for camping, grilling, and collecting shoes, clothes, and watches—always carrying a unique sense of style and adventure.
On June 21, 1974, Doug married Dori Gabel. Though their marriage ended, their bond remained strong. They were lifelong friends, standing by each other’s side through every chapter of life, especially when it came to raising their children and grandchildren. Dori’s unwavering support and care for Doug were a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.
Doug’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children: Darcy (Bernie) Druckenmiller of Fremont, Derek (Julia) Dalton of Toledo, Dana (Meni) Ontiveros of Fremont, and Tiffany (Will) Simmons of Arizona; his beloved grandchildren: Kasey, Olivia, Quinn, Camden, Lucy, Brady, Taylor John, Makayla, Brianna, and Aiden; and two cherished great-grandchildren: Aria and Mason.
A private funeral ceremony will be held in the presence of close family.
Doug’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and loved him throughout his journey. His legacy of resilience, kindness, and a deep appreciation for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, Doug. May the music never stop.
