Dorothy Evelyn Gilbert

Dorothy Evelyn Gilbert, 102, formerly of Green Springs, OH passed away on January 22, 2023 at the Willows at Bellevue.  She was born on March 2, 1920 in Defiance, OH to Harold and Ruth (Cederholm) Gillette. She married Charles Gilbert Sr. on April 3, 1937 in Wheeling WV and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2013. Dorothy attended Bellevue High School.  Dorothy was lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Green Springs, OH and the Green Springs VFW auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and quilting. She later found enjoyment in crosswords, word finds, coloring, and puzzle books. Dorothy enjoyed competing for “BINGO Bucks” at the Willows.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters-in-law, Beverly Gilbert of Clyde, OH and Lorilee Gilbert of Fremont, OH; grandchildren Tamela (Steve) Leber, Green Springs, OH, Dorothy “Dotti” Gilbert, DeSoto, MO, Ralph (Sara) Shearn Jr., Fremont, OH, Toni Gilbert, Clyde, OH, Eric Gilbert, Reynoldsburg, OH, Jennifer (Mark) Long, Findlay, OH; 10 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; children; Charles (Loretta) Gilbert Jr., Donald Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, Carolyn Shearn-Hougendobler; grandchildren, Lori Gilbert and Terri Gilbert; great-great granddaughter, Emersyn Shearn; siblings, Eileen Shaver, Howard, Walter, and Helen Gillette.

Visitation: Friday, January 27, 2023, from 10 am-12 pm at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home 211 N. Broadway St. Green Springs, OH 44836.  Funeral ceremony to follow at noon.

Burial will take place at Green Springs Cemetery
