Doris J. Shriver, 83, of Alger St, Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 surrounded by her family at Bethesda Care Center. She was born on October 12, 1929 in Fremont, the daughter of Urban R. and Carrie (Gropp) Bruggeman. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Doris married Grant Shriver on June 21, 1971 in Monroe, MI and he survives. She worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department at Sears and retired after twenty years of service. Doris was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
Doris is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Grant Shriver, Fremont, OH; children, Judy (Mike) Batesole, The Villages, FL, Richard (Carol Ann Langstine) Bergeman, Corvallis, OR, Bill (Susan) Bergeman, Charlotte, NC, Mike Bergeman, Chattanooga, TN, Barbara Rapp, Fremont, OH, Eva Bergeman, Flat Rock, MI, Carrie (Gerry) Langelotti, Midlothian, VA, Frank Bergeman, Charlotte, NC, Ken (Helene) Bergeman, Matthews, NC; step daughters, Diane (Steve) Young, Buda, TX, Ruth (John) Imperial, Driftwood, TX; siblings, Janet (Jim) Sorg, Toledo, OH, Carolyn (Al) Georgic, Trenton, MI, Jim (Sharon) Bruggeman, Lebanon, OH; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step son, Dennis Shriver; brother, Art Bruggeman.
Visitation: Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory.
Service: Monday, June 17, 2013, 11:30 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State St, Fremont, OH, Pastor James Avers officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont
Memorials: Bethesda Care Center, Stein Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church.
