Dora M. Corthell

Dora M. Corthell, 98, of Green Springs, OH passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, OH. She was born on March 5, 1915 in Seneca County, the daughter of Ray W. and Grace M. Runion.

Dora married William Gilbert Corthell on January 22, 1934 in Tiffin, OH and he preceded her in death.

Dora retired from Green Springs School as Head Cook of the cafeteria after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Green Springs United Methodist Church. Dora was known for her homemade bread and Christmas cookies which she shared with her family at holiday time. She enjoyed bowling, traveling to the Amish country and to Florida.

Dora is survived by her daughters, Donna Mackling, Zephyrhills, FL and Shirley Scheerer, Tiffin, OH; daughter-in-law, Janet Corthell, Green Springs, OH; grandchildren, Mike Brunthaver, Tiffin, OH, Robert D. Brunthaver, Seattle WA, Jayne Grine, Fremont, OH, Sue Walters, Tiffin, OH, Scott, Greg and Gary Corthell, Green Springs, OH and Jeff Corthell, O’Fallon, IL; twelve great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Dora was the last living child of Ray and Grace Runion. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Gilbert Corthell; son, Bill Corthell; sons-in-law, James Scheerer and George Mackling; sisters, Mazel King, Lucinda Claybaugh, Betty Straub, Anna Seiger, Margie Grover; brothers, Alfred, Sylvester, Bruce and Gene Runion.

The family wishes to thank Autumwood caregivers and staff for there great care and friendship. Also, thanks to Community Hospice caregivers and to Dr. Garlapati for his years of care.
