Donald E. Martin Sr

Donald Elmer Martin, Sr, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born on May 28, 1938 in Fremont, OH to Elmer and Ressa Bell (Runion) Martin. Don served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 and was honorably discharged.

Donald worked as forklift driver for Whirlpool and retired after thirty years of service. He enjoyed watching sprint car racing at Fremont Speedway, fishing and traveling to Florida every winter. 

He is survived by his sons, Donald (Kim) Martin Jr, Fremont, OH, Ronnie Martin, Atlanta GA; grandchildren, Nathen Martin, Fremont, OH, Samantha Reyes, of North Carolina; great grandchildren, Paisley Martin, Ronnie Reyes, Mikey Reyes; siblings, Phyllis Ward, Woodville, OH, Robert “Jake” (Olivia) Martin, Fremont, OH, Donna Jean Auxter, Green Springs, OH; former spouse, Julie Ann (Moses) Loats.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Nicolette Martin; siblings, Richard Martin, Carolyn Isaacs and longtime companion, Michelle Burdette. 

Donald's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Heartland Hospice for the incredible care, kindness and compassion provided. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Services will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, 10:30 am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memory Gardens with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.

Memorials can be made in his honor to his family.
