Donald E. Link, 70, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 29, 2014 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH surrounded by his family. He was born on January 6, 1944 in Fremont, OH to Harry and Leota (Raifsnider) Link. He was a 1963 graduate of Clyde High School and attended Terra Community College.
Don served in the US Marine Corps from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation. He married Barbara (O’Neal) Link on July 7, 2006 and she survives.
Don worked for the City of Clyde Parks Department for many years until he retired in 2009. He was a Life member of the Clyde V.F.W., Amvets, Clyde Eagles, 1st Marine Division Association and the D.A.V. He enjoyed golfing and was a former assistant coach at Clyde High School for girls basketball and boys track teams.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara Link, Fremont; children, James Link, Clyde, Cynthia (Jeff) Carroll, Leesburg, VA, Annie (James) Brockschmidt, Howell, MI, Ryan (Jennifer) Link, Tiffin, Michael (Darcy) Foos, Michelle (John) Wehring, Mandi (David) Miller all of Fremont and Britani (Bobby) Harless, Harrod, OH; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Wednesday, April 2, 2014; 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home .
Burial: McPhearson Cemetery, Clyde, OH with military honors
