Dennis Conrad Carmel

Dennis Conrad Carmel, 78, of Fremont, OH passed away in the care of Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green, OH on October 4, 2022.  Denny was born on July 31, 1944, to Gordon Elwood and Mary Elizabeth (Bridges) Carmel in Elyria, OH.  He was a 1962 graduate of Midview High School in Grafton, OH and received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work Counseling from Bowling Green State University in 1983.  Denny served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965 receiving an honorable discharge.  He was awarded the Expert Rifle M-14 Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  He was employed as an Ohio State Trooper from 1967 to 1993.  He also worked as an investigator for Sandusky County and was employed by the Department of Jobs and Family Services from 1994 to 2007.

Denny is survived by his former wife, Sherrie Carmel, Fremont, OH; children; Robert Carmel, Fremont, OH and Jennifer (Trey) Sasser, Waterville, OH, brothers; David (Liz) Carmel, Lagrange, OH and Paul Carmel, Grafton, OH, grandchildren; Jason, Morgan, Jake and Addison and great grandson, Kash.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Kay Carmel.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Bridge Hospice, Dr. Jacobus, Nurse Ginny, Aide Shanna, and the entire staff at Bridge Hospice Care Center and his primary care physician, Dr. Wonderly.

Denny’s wish was to have no services.
