Dan Paul Linder, 71, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 12, 1951 in Toledo, OH the son of Raymond and Kathryn (Beckman) Linder. He was a 1969 graduate of Fremont Ross High School where he was named the most valuable senior athlete and was later inducted to the Fremont Ross Hall of Fame for diving and pole vaulting. He also attended Capital University. Dan married Janice Palmer on February 5, 1971 at Grace Lutheran Church and she survives. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War from February 16, 1971 to February 15, 1975. He was awarded the Nation Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Air and Space Outstanding Unit Award.
Dan worked at Baumann Auto Group in the Used Car Sales Department for many years until he retired. He was very involved in many community boards where he held numerous offices. Dan enjoyed mowing his yard, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was an avid Ohio State Fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Sprint Car races. He and his wife enjoyed visiting all fifty state capitals and every Presidential Library. Dan loved to spend time with his family, friends and especially his granddaughter.
Dan is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Janice Linder; daughter, Christy (Jason Sharp) Linder, Thousand Oaks, CA; granddaughter, Olivia Sharp. He is also survived by his close friends in the Country Weed Hoppers, Dan and Carol Polter, Jim and Julie Pfeiffer, Dwain and Barb Leaser, Tom and Joan Sachs, Daryl and Cate Knipp, Linda Martin, Roger and Sandra Wise and Jim and Pat Halbeisen.
He is preceded in death by his parents and good friend, Lynn Martin.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10 until Noon at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
Memorial service will take place at Noon following the visitation at the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Kingsway, OH.
