Cruz Vigil Hooten

Cruz Vigil Hooten, 84, of Oregon, OH passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Ayden Healthcare in Oregon, OH.  She was born on January 1, 1939 in Seguin, TX to Serapio and Theresa (Perez) Vigil.   Cruz married William B. Hooten on June 29, 1978 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  She was previously married and had five children in that union. She worked at the Sandusky County Home in Fremont for thirty years and also worked at Eldora Speedway.  Cruz attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church enjoyed her children and cooking.

Cruz is survived by her husband of forty-four years, William B. Hooten, Oregon, OH; children, Raul (Esther) Gonzales, Jr., Rosamaria (Juan Antonio Zermeno) Gonzales and Rita (Juan) Castillo; two brothers and one sister; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Rebecca and Reynaldo Gonzales; eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation:  Friday, April 14, 2023, from 9:00 – 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 206 N. Park Ave, Fremont, OH.

Services will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Matt Wahlgren officiating.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
