Claribel Rathbun

Claribel Rathbun, 89, of Tiffin, OH and formerly of Green Springs, OH passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Countryside Continuing Care Center. She was born on May 19, 1923 in Green Springs, the daughter of Franklin N. and Aleta (Insley) Baker.

Claribel worked at Crescent Manufacturing in Fremont, where she also served as a Union Steward for the UAW, and retired after twenty-six years of service. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital and for Hospice of Memorial Hospital. Claribel was a Lifetime member of the Fremont Eagles. She enjoyed watching game shows, playing the piano and cross word puzzles. She loved spending time with her family.

Claribel is survived by her sons, Gary Lee Bowling, Dennis (Judy) Bowling, Tiffin, OH, Lonnie (Ayako) Bowling, Fremont, OH; sister, Dora Perry, Toledo, OH; brothers, Raymond (Virginia) Baker, Green Springs, OH, Robert (Audrey) Baker, Fremont, OH; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Linda Kay Bowling; brother, Clarence Baker who was killed in combat during WWII and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday from Noon until 2 p.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway, Green Springs, OH 44836.

Service: Thursday, January 24, 2013, 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Christine Tobergte officiating.
