Charlotte Elizabeth Urban

Charlotte Elizabeth Urban, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Valley View Care Center. She was born on September 2, 1934 in Punxsutawney, PA to Charles and Edith (Schwartz) Otto. Charlotte was a 1952 graduate of Punxsutawney High School and a 1956 graduate of Clarion University.

Charlotte married her college sweetheart, Edward John Urban, in 1956 and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2021. Together they established the family business, Otto & Urban Flower Shop and Greenhouse in Fremont in 1962 and Port Clinton in 1976. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and attended bible study. Charlotte was the first female member and female president of the Rotary Club, a past president of the Soroptimist, board member of Sandusky County MRDD, the Coterie Club, founding member of the Fremont Tree and Beautification Committee, which began in 1982, she was first to receive the Athena Award.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Lynn (Kim Myers) Urban of Fremont, OH, Edward (Lori) Urban of Port Clinton, OH, Kimberly (Eric) Theller of Fort Myers, FL, Gregg Urban of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Alexa, Adam, Abbey, Bethany, Megan, Eric (EJ), Morgan; great-grandchildren, Addison, Sage, Aspen, Aniston, August, Gracelyn, AJ, Brynn, Hadley, Emma, Kennedi and sister, Beverly George, Greensburg, PA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ed Urban.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 2 to 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Service will take place on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials can be made in Charlotte’s honor to Grace Lutheran Church, the Fremont Tree and Beautification Committee, Soroptimist or the Fremont Rotary Club.
