Charlie Shorty, Jr., 68, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 3, 2024 at Bellevue Care Center. He was born on January 3, 1956 in Clarksdale, MS the son of Charlie and Ida Mae (Hoskins) Shorty, Sr. Charlie was a 1974 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
Charlie worked for Nickel’s Bakery for twenty-one years until he retired. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Missionary Church in Fremont, OH. Charlie loved people and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always willing to help those in need and enjoyed driving people where they needed to go.
Charlie is survived by his life long companion, Sue Walker, Green Springs; children, Tasha Walker and Charlie Shorty III both of Fremont; grandchildren, Sharissa Collins, Averyanna, Tanisha and Cherish Shorty; step-daughters, Thelma and Shanna Walker, both of Fremont; sister, Addie Pearl Shorty, Toledo; nine step-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Issac Shorty, Mary Alice Freeman, Ida Lee Minniefield, Catherine Brownlee Shorty and Dorothy Shorty.
Visitation: Thursday March 14, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
Memorials can be made in Charlie’s honor to his family.
