Charles R. Thrun “Charlie”

Charles R. Thrun, 84, of Fremont, OH passed away on December 24, 2022 in Gibsonburg, OH. He was born on September 6, 1938 in Fremont, OH the son of Norman and Clara Mae (Linthicum) Thrun. Charlie was a 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.  Charlie served in the U.S. Army from June 14, 1958 until April 19, 1974 and was awarded the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-1); Marksman Badge (Carbine); Army Occupation Medal (Berlin); National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 O/S Bars; Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  He worked as a computer technician while in Hawaii. Charlie returned to Ohio and worked as a security guard. Charlie enjoyed reading, writing stories, and working on computers.

Charlie is survived by his siblings, Jean Bortel, Fremont, OH, Jack Thrun of Texas, Mary Jane Wright of Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Kansas Cemetery, Kansas, OH with military honors.
