Charles “Chuck” M. Schauder, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on October 8, 2023 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont. Chuck was born July 28, 1936 to Louis and Bess (Fisher) Schauder in Tiffin, OH. He was a 1954 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Chuck married Judy Shiflet in April 1960 and she preceded him on August 3, 2009. Chuck married Myrtle “Mertie” (Spence) Eversole on January 8, 2011 and she survives. He was a supervisor at Crescent Manufacturing until he retired in 1996. He was a Founding Board Member of Journey Church and an RV/MAPS Volunteer. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and ALL of “Mertie’s” cooking. During his life he loved being with family and friends. He was a man after God’s own heart. His faith in Jesus defined every aspect of his life.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Mertie Schauder; children, Lezlie (Jeff) Kinder, Painesville, OH and Todd (Diana) Schauder, Byron Center, MI; step-children, Pamela Wirth, Austin, TX, Steve (Debbie) Eversole, Oak Harbor, OH; stepson-in-law, Carlos Ollervides; sister, Norma Riepenhoff, Leipsic, OH; five grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and twenty-two step-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy Schauder; son-in-law, Mark Fahl; infant brother, John Schauder; siblings, Margaret Patterson, Miram Roof, Edward Schauder; stepdaughter, Tami Ollervides.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Celebration of Life Services will be on Friday, October 13, 2023, 10:00 am at Journey Church with an hour of visitation prior.
Burial will take place at McGormley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
