Catherine L. Hiestand

Catherine L. Hiestand, 66, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Catherine Louise Hoffman was born on December 22, 1957 in Fremont, OH to Donald Hoffman and Carol (Spears) Cross.   Cathy was a 1976 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. 

Cathy married Greg Hiestand in Fremont, OH in 2007.   She successfully owned and operated Village Pizza in Bettsville, OH.  In her later years, Cathy focused on her passion for crafting, excelling in diamond painting, resin casting, and jewelry making. She had a talent with colors, painting hand cast figurines as well as pen and marker coloring.  She enjoyed knitting and was a fantastic cook and baker. Cathy was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and recent cat mom.   Cathy was also a surrogate mother to dozens of her daughters’ teenage friends.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Greg Hiestand; daughters, Anne (Andy) Britt, Katy Estrada, Mary Miller, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Zoya, Devin, Gabe, Achlys, Pagan, Kieran, Claire; father, Donald Hoffman; siblings, Terri, Setlak, of Florida, Lisa (Kenny) Thompson, Mike (Cindy) Hoffman, Brian (Beth) Hoffman, all of Fremont, OH, Stacie (Carl) Meece, Pemberville, OH; aunt, Jean Howard, Fremont, OH and uncle, Richard Hoffman, Huron, OH.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Cross.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, May 18, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Andrea Thurston officiating.  

Memorials can be made in Cathy’s honor to the Humane Society of Sandusky County or American Red Cross.
