Carol A. Pence

Carol A. Pence, 70, of Tiffin, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at her home. Carol was born on October 14, 1953 to Ted and Arlene (McComb) Cleveland in Fremont, OH. She was a 1971 graduate of Old Fort High School.  Carol married Doug Pence on April 18, 1975 at Old Fort Church in Old Fort, OH and he survives. 

Carol was a hairdresser for forty-two years, during this time she owned and operated her own salon called the Country Clipper. She was a member of Old Fort Church. Carol loved entertaining and planning gatherings for family, friends and her community. She never met a stranger. Carol made friends everywhere she went and never hesitated to tell them about her love for the Lord. She enjoyed decorating, especially for Christmas and creating floral arrangements for many occasions. She was known for her BIG personality and will be deeply missed.

Carol is survived by her husband of forty-nine years Doug Pence; children, Lindsay (Michael) Sooy, Old Fort, OH, Tyler (Jessica) Pence, Rowlett, TX; grandchildren, Clayton and Cora Sooy and Sutton and Hayes Pence; siblings Dan (Terri) Cleveland, Green Springs, OH, Darlene (Mike) Adelsperger, Tiffin, OH, Laurie (Craig) Reichert, Attica, OH, and Sandy (Joe) Gillett, Green Springs, OH. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Cleveland. 

Visitation will take place on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St. Green Springs, OH 44836.

Services will take place Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Old Fort Church, 8245 Main St, Old Fort, OH 44861, with an hour of visitation prior to services starting at 10 a.m.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Old Fort Church.
