Carmen G. Lerma

Carmen Lerma, 96, formerly of Fremont, OH, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Huntsville, Ohio. She was born on September 29, 1928, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Trinidad and Natalia (Sierra) Gonzales.

Carmen was a woman of deep faith and unwavering strength. She was known for her loving and nurturing nature, always offering kindness and care to those around her. Her strong will and dedication to giving back to the community left a lasting impact on many lives. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially baking cakes and cookies for loved ones birthdays and special events. Whether she was preparing something special in the kitchen or getting lost in the pages of a good book or the daily news, Carmen embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm. 

Carmen is survived by her daughter, Isabel Mooney (Mark); her grandchildren, Veronica Ortiz, Reymundo Ortiz (Heather), and Natalia Ortiz; as well as Abbey Schnell (Dave) and Ashley Leibrecht (Brad) and five great grandchildren. Carmen’s legacy of kindness and compassion will be remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 4 to 7:30 pm with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Homea and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 10:00 am at St Ann Catholic Church, 1021 W State St, Fremont, OH 43420 with Fr. Steve officiating. 

Burial will follow mass at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH.

Memorials can be made in Carmen’s honor to the family, March of Dimes or to the American Cancer Society.
