Bruce John Bilger, 75, of Fremont, OH passed away on October 16, 2024 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH. He was born on April 14, 1949 in Sandusky, OH the son of John and Grace (Goodfellow) Bilger. Bruce was a 1967 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He served in the US Marines Corps and received the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Badge.
Bruce married Nanci Sue Spellerberg on September 1, 2017 at The Church Fremont and she survives. He worked at Davis Bessie for over twenty years until he retired. He had also worked as a Fremont City Police officer for several years and in the maintenance department at LOF for fifteen years.
Bruce was an active member of The Church Fremont and previously at Grace Lutheran Church. He was a social member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Sandusky County Sportsman Club and NRA. Bruce loved anything with wheels and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a dependable man and was known to help people at the drop of a hat. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Nanci Bilger, Fremont; children, Tanya (Mike) Burkett and Shane (Stacy) Bilger both of Fremont; grandchildren, Tawnie (Levi) Bishop, Findlay, Tyler (Kait) Binder, Cherry Point, NC, Shelby and Hanna Bilger both of Lakewood and Whitney Bilger, Toledo; great grandchildren, Nova and Liam Bishop; siblings, Jeanne (Tim) St John and Amy Wilt both of Fremont and Shannon Ritchey, Sandusky; step-children, Rock (Kim) Siler-Wurst. Carroll, OH and Nicholas Siler, St Cloud, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roland Below.
Visitation: Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral service will take place on Monday, October 21, 2024; 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
