Brenda “Kathy” K. Burns

Brenda “Kathy” Kathryn Burns, 76, of Fremont, OH passed away at her home on Saturday, December 11, 2021.  She was born on March 21, 1945 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of Frank and Lucille (Patterson) Ferguson.  She graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High school in 1963 and received an associate degree in accounting from Terra Community College.   Kathy married David Burns on May 4, 1979 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and he survives.  She was currently the general manager of Burns Iron Metal Co. in Fremont.  Kathy had her real estate license and received an advanced EMT certification.  She also previously managed The Garden at the Lighthouse in Port Clinton.  Kathy also volunteered to do taxes for senior citizens.

Kathy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She enjoyed shopping and fine dining.  She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren always supporting them unconditionally.  She had a fierce love and passion for everything she did and will be greatly missed by many.  She was very nurturing to animals and often rescued them and loved her cat, “Miss Bitey”.

Kathy is survived by her husband of forty-two years, David Burns, Fremont, OH; children, Stephen (Annette) Burns, Fremont, OH, James (Tracey) Duty, Reading, PA, Christine Burns, Fremont, OH, Denise (Heath Koepplinger) Boerst, Maumee, OH, Laura (Eric) Biel, Oregon, OH and Beth (Fernando Reyes) Burns, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, David (Brandi), Samantha, Stephanie, Michael, Jessica (Logan), Christopher, Anthony, Amanda, Abbey, Cyle (Chrissy), Derek (Hannah), Madeline, Caleb, Lindsay, Kylie (Jeffery), Andrew, Ethan, Molly, Jordan, Jaron and Jelena;  siblings, Bernadette (John) Johannsen, Perrysburg, OH and Don (Lori) Ferguson, Fostoria, OH; twenty-one great grandchildren; best friends, Mary Rose, Lilly Harmon and Mafalda Duty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Aaron Burns; siblings, Frank Ferguson, Beverly Turner, Betty Fountain, Barbara Rucki and David Ferguson.

Visitation:  Sunday from 2 – 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial:  Monday, December 20, 2021, 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St, Fremont, OH.

Burial:  St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Sandusky County or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
