Betty J. Mcgilton

Betty J. McGilton, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away on August 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on November 6, 1931 in Willard, OH the daughter of William G. and Rose Ann (Keegan) Heabler.  She was a 1949 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.  Betty married Harold “Mac” McGilton, Sr. on June 25, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2009.  She was a cook for the Fremont City Schools for over thirty-five years until she retired in 2001.

Betty was a member of the Fremont Eagles.  She enjoyed sprint car racing with her family, gardening and reading.  She loved to spend time with her family.

Betty is survived by her children, Harold “Mac” (Laura Walby) McGilton, Jr., Linda McGilton, Steve (Danielle) McGilton and Lisa (Randy) Hammer all of Fremont, Michael (Cinda) McGilton, Clyde.  She was blessed with twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and five angel babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-three years, Harold “Mac” McGilton, Sr.; brothers, William “Bill” and Bud Heabler.

The family would like to thank special friends and caregivers, Avery Guhn, Macy Valdez, Tonya Haubert and Lynn Gedding from ProMedica Occupational Therapy and Heartland Home Health, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that assisted with her living life.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date at the Fremont Eagles.
