Betty J. Gent

Betty J. Gent, 88, of Green Springs, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, March 12, 2021. She was born on January 14, 1933 in Kitts, KY to John M. and Ruth M. (Sliger) West.

Betty married William “Whitey” H. Gent on March 23, 1951 in Noetown, KY and he preceded her on January 15, 2012. She worked in the Cafeteria for the Clyde/Green Springs School where she retired from after many years of service. Betty was a member of New Hope Vineyard Church in Fremont, OH and the Green Springs Garden Club. She umpired many games with Whitey and volunteered her time at Elmwood. Betty was an avid book reader and could be seen at the library daily. Her greatest pastime was going to her great grandchildren’s sporting events.

Betty is survived by her children, William Gent, Bowling Green, OH, Gail (John) Partin Hanford, CA, Barb (Al) Darr, Green Springs, OH, Ruth Gent, Green Springs, OH, Charles (Michelle) Gent, Lemoore, CA; siblings, Edith English, Marie (Paul) Cockrell, Linda Bays, all of Chandler, OK; John (Sheila) West, The Villages of Florida; grandchildren, Melinda (Jay), Amanda (Nate), Amber (Brian), Lindsey (Chad), Ashley (Michael), Clint, Joni (Joey), Andrew and Leann and twenty-three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Una, Mona, Fay and Jeanette.

Due to Covid, family will have a private service at a later date.

Burial will take place a Green Springs Cemetery.
