Amelia Z. Gonzales

Amelia Z. Gonzales, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, December 04, 2021 at Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Green Springs, OH.  She was born on July 13, 1934 in San Benito, TX to Sostenes and Petra (Lozano) Zuniga.  Amelia married Santiago C. Gonzales on December 9, 1951 in Bettesville, OH and he preceded her on October 10, 2015.  She worked for the Fremont City Schools System as Matron Custodian and retired in 1995.  Amelia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.

Amelia is survived by her children, Ermalinda Moreno, Arnold Gonzales, both of Fremont, OH; daughter-in-law, Elodia Gonzales, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Ismael and Melissa Gonzales, Sylvia Harris, Lydia Moreno, Janel Moreno and Joel Moreno, Jr., Desmond Gonzales and Amber Tusing; sister, Nora Garcia, Woodville, OH; twenty-four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Santiago C. Gonzales; sons, Santiago C. Gonzales, Jr. and Saul Gonzales; son-in-law, Joel Moreno, Sr.; grandson, Ricky Lopez, Sr.; great grandsons, Johnny Lopez, Dilon Messer; sisters, Anita Gonzales, Christina Stacy, Feliapia Nason, Dolores Sanchez, Andria Hernandez and brothers, Andres Zuniga and Ismiael Zuniga.

Visitation:  Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, December 9, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH.

Burial:  St. Ann Cemetery

Memorials can be made in her honor to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
