Allan H. Falk, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont. Allan was born on August 5, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Dr. Nathan and Blanche (Goldberg) Falk. Allan was a 1956 graduate of Senn High School. Allan attended the University of Illinois Navy Pier Campus and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Campus. He then went on to John Marshall Law School where he obtained his Doctorate of Law in 1963, and was a member of the Chicago Bar Association since.
Allan met his lifelong companion Bill Setzler in 1975 and they married on June 20, 2008 in San Francisco, CA. They remodeled their 1885 historical Victorian home in San Francisco where they lived for twenty-five years. During this time Bill was a deputy sheriff. Together they enjoyed traveling to Europe and other foreign countries. Together Allan and Bill lived in Chicago, IL, Palm Desert, CA and San Francisco, CA. Since 2010 they have shared time in both Fremont and Palm Springs, CA.
After obtaining his Law Degree Allan founded Potter and Falk Law Practice in Downtown Chicago where he was an Attorney. He retired due to health conditions in 1981. He remained an active member of the Bar for the rest of his life.
Allan enjoyed cooking, trying new restaurants and entertaining company. He loved leaning new languages; Allan was fluent in French and Greek and understood Polish and Ukrainian.
Allan is survived by his husband, William “Bill” Setzler; in-laws, Denny (Josie) Setzler, Fremont, OH, Eric (Jessica) Setzler, Pittsburgh, PA, Cathy (Jeff) Frastaci, Pioneer, OH, Brian (Erin) Setzler, Newark DE, Autumn Setzler, Athens, OH; seven grand neices and nephews; dear cousins Natalie Miller, Linda Karn, Mitchell Skolnik and Ellen Miller who viewed Allan as a bonus father; and many friends in Chicago, California, Ohio and Canada.
He is preceded in death by his parents, dear cousin, Stewart Miller; dear friends and fellow attorneys, Ralla Klepak and Marty Rubin.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.
A private burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in Allan’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family wishes to thank Allan’s caregivers, Carrie and Chris, neighbors, Kelly, Andy and Addison along with all of the staff at Valley View Health Campus.
